The test mule, the first of the three planned cars, has been finished and given away to one of !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! 's friends and helpers, Caron. This was primarily a test bed for determining the final shape of the car, practicing bodywork and fabrication skills, developing the tools needed to make future parts, and other major details. This car will continue to serve as a learning-tool for Caron as he finishes up the car himself. Koji's now onto car 2, Will's car and the performance test bed, this car will apparently feature the final and fully-detailed exterior, interior, and chassis-modifications along with prototyping the forced-induction Honda V-6 powertrain.

The test mule will be making an appearance at the Seattle Mini Maker Faire March 22-23rd at the EMP. Also, functional Fett welding helmet make from scratch because f-yeah.
I don't care if you people call him crazy and his efforts to produce a futuristic MR2 futile, this guy is putting in a lot more work and effort into dream-projects we can only wish we had to guts to do.

I appriciate his effort, but the body just looks like a riced out Prelude.

Yeah, it looks better from the side and rear.

No thanks. Those wheels look wrong and the vent goes too far forward. The huge C pillar just makes it look fat. I respect his effort to the ends of the earth but hate the styling

No offence to Koji, but I think this guy takes the cake, hands down:
+1 for doing his own carbon fiber.
+111 for the aircraft rivets.
This is towards where I'd like my next build to head, whenever I actually stop driving and finish my Seven.

Hang on, it's 110x more on being impractical... I might as well buy a Radical.

Not for that price, you won't. Think of his as a 2011/2012 LMP2. Mine would be more like a current gen LMP1. Larger motor, closed cockpit. Practicality be damned. I drive a Seven. It currently has mud splattered all over the passenger's seat and the roll bars.... We don't care about practicality. We don't care about practicality.

There are others in the forum making their own cars that are a little more practical, I just like the quality and design of his, BTW.

That reminds me, how's the progress on your car to date? I am tempted to build a locost but...

But?
If you have the funding, I'll make sure you get any and all information, encouragement, and help you need. If your not within driving range of me, I can work out a place to stay and work for a weekend or two if necessary, or there is a very good chance that there are other locosters in your area that will be willing to help you, or possibly even with garage space if you don't have it. I am capable of making parts and shipping then out if necessary, and I know sometime that makes just about anything needed to build a Seven, at unbeatable prices.
As for me, I'm at a standstill. With two children, 50 hour workweek, and a house that needs constant attention, I haven't been able to do anything. Add the lack of some vital tools that "magically" disappeared, adding with the lack of money to replace them, and you never end up with a positive answer. I think that the fact that I can drive it at this point doesn't help any.
I really would like to tear it down to paint the chassis, but I still need to finish the Dzus brackets in the back door the fenders and the rear bodywork. I also would like to enclose the back so I have some storage compartments, so I can get the tool bag out of the passengers area. Once the frame is painted, I can also mount the rear high brake light, on the roll bar. At that point, I will tuck all the wiring away as well. I want it to look like a production car when it's finished.
Another thing that is delaying the rear fenders is the lack of good rear suspension. I need either some Miata adjustable coilovers, or I'll have to make some serious bump stops, because with the cut springs that are in there now, I am only left with two inches of travel before the tires would contact the fenders, at that point, ripping off uncountable hours of work with one pothole.
On the positive note, I have installed the 550cc injectors, and adjusted the MegaSquirt III to acknowledge them, and it's fixed my lean burn issues. A good dyno tune would do wonders, as well.
